Interaction for seniors

Assignments, IID

Explore and discover. Enactment is very important in Interaction Design. It this way you can put your self in a situation, to see what works and what doesn’t.  My group chose to test how it would be to operate a credit card terminal with Parkinson disease. The enactment took part in a someone with Parkinson, who got to the point, where they dont have full control of their motions. More specifically the hand shaking was what we found very interesting.

storyboard All of it was going to be recorded on video, so the first thing we did was to make a storyboard. As you see the storyboard shows our main character who simply wants to buy something in the school canteen, but doesn’t have any notes or coins with her. That means she would have to use her credit card, but of course that’s not straight forward, since she has parkinson.

To simulate the hand shake, Esben shook Astrids hand whenever she got to the point where she needed her motor skill.

It was a fun little assignment – the final enactment can be seen in the embedded video.
